Good news about MARS!
I have the MARS program, personal edition I bought in 2000. I just rebuilt a computer with windows 7 and it wouldn't install. The good news is I figured it out! Copy the files from the CD to your Documents in Windows Explorer. Right click on the setup file. Select properties. Select compatibility. Under compatibility mode choose windows xp (service pack 2), then click the box that says "run this program in compatibility mode." Click Apply at the bottom, then OK. Double click on setup and it will install, and work! When you have it running, close the program and go to windows explorer, c drive program files marswin, right click on the Marswin application file, select create a shortcut. After you have created a shortcut on your desktop you can right click on the icon, select properties, select change icon, browse your document file where you copied MARS, select the icon! Now when you use the icon on the desktop it may ask you if you want to run this program on your computer, just say yes (I can't figure out how to avoid this step) and you're there. Enjoy!

Gary, thank you for the explanation. It took away my fear of Window 8. One more thing -- I really missed my MARS program when I got window 7.

Gary, I have been contemplating getting a new computer but was afraid of windows 8 because of criticism I'd read. Thank you for making this an easy read and your positive recommendation.
